The Death of Matrice Richardson

On September 17,2009 in Malibu,California a young woman named Matrice Richardson went missing. The family as well as the people of the surrounding community searched high and low for her. However eleven months and nine days later they found her remains in the form of her bones in the Malibu Canyon. Her death was a serious tragedy; the family blamed the police for her death. While the police are in some way responsible they are not directly responsible. Given the lack of evidence and the circumstances of this case I have come to the conclusion that the result of her death was suicide.

Mitrice Richardson was a young woman who worked two jobs while studying in the field of psychology. At first glance a person would think that she was completely mentally stable, unfortunately looks can be deceiving. Throughout my investigation of this case I noticed that she had been displaying symptoms of bi-polar disorder. According to the timeline of the case at some point in the fall of 2009 “Mitrice Richardson’s world begins to crumble. She and her girlfriend, Tess break up.

Her bi-polar disorder no longer seems to be under control. The outgoing and responsible young woman is now sending strange text messages and posting bizarre social media posts''. According to mind.org uk bi-polar disorder can be brought on by “Stressful life events” I believe that the event of her breakup is what sent her down this spiraling path which led to her death.

Her bi-polar symptoms would come to fully manifest during that fateful when she arrived at a restaurant called “Geoffry’s”. Upon her arrival at the restaurant it is reported that she went through the vehicle of an employee going through his CD collection when questioned on why she began to speak gibberish. After witnessing this behavior she was allowed into the restaurant to order food where she would begin to tell everyone in the restaurant that “she is from Mars and is here to avenge Micheal Jackson’s death”.

One of the symptoms of bi-polar disorder is “being delusional, having hallucinations and disturbed or illogical”. It was these symptoms that she showed while in the restaurant when she was unable to pay her bill. It was covered by the employees of the restaurant and the police were called. When the police were called she was taken to the police station where a drug test was performed showing that she was not under the influence.

The police would then go on to impound her care upon inspection of her car they both found and left her “her purse, phone, identification, and ATM card”. The police then informed her mother that she would be released the next morning, but neglected to say which time. Mitrice was released from the police at 12:38 a.m. this would lead her to appear in someone's backyard from that point in the timeline she went missing.

During the time of her disappearance she is said to have been potentially seen throughout the period of her disappearance however the police never fully investigated these potential sightings. Eleven months and nine days later her remains were found in the form of her skeletal

remains. Given the way her body was found, the time that it takes for a person to die of starvation and how it takes for a human body to decompose. Another symptoms of bi-polar disorder is “suicidal thoughts”. Given this information it is very logical to say that she died of suicide between the time of her last sightings and the time her remains were found.

In conclusion I believe that the death of Mitrice Richardson was a result of suicide. It is worth mentioning that it is stated that in her past she began to lose interest in a number of things which is another symptom of bi-polar disorder. While the police are not directly responsible for her death they were at fault for releasing someone with such a disorder so early in the morning especially without any of her belongings. The Death of Mitrice Richardson is an example to all of us that we must always be careful and try to help those who are in need. This is John Henrick saying..........................

CASE CLOSED.
